| The Book Shelf is a locally owned new and used book store. The Whitesburg store has been in business for 30 years and the Madison Plaza store for 20 years. Each store has thousands of books in stock with friendly workers to help you find and order books. We take great pride in a well cleaned and organized environment. |
Used Books: Trade 2 for 1 based on the publisher list. We give 30% of list price as credit. All used books are sold at 40% off list price
New Books: All new books are sold at 30% off the list price. We will special order any book available to us. We order a large selection of paperback for resale and a small selection of hardback bestsellers
ALABAMA LAW REQUIRES US TO CHARGE SALES TAX ON PURCHASES INCLUDING CREDIT PURCHASES. TAXES MUST BE PAYED IN CASH, CHECK, OR CREDIT CARD. STORE CREDIT CANNOT BE USED FOR SALES TAX.
To meet overhead an monthly expenses we charge 10% cash of all store credit purchases. Example: If you spend $15.00 in store credit you will be charged 8% sales tax and $1.50 in handling fees.
Store Credit is divided into 4 categories:
1.New and hard to find authors: This covers books published in the last 6 months and authors that are popular and in high demand.
2.Regular Credit: This covers general categories and authors
3.Science fiction and Western: Science fiction and Western books must be traded for Science fiction and Western. This can also be used on regular books.
4.Louis L`Amour: Louis L`Amour books must be traded for Louis L`Amour books. No Exceptions
